COMBAT HANDBOOK

Read the cards.Understand the battle.

Mirrors High combines real-time action with card choices. The best starting point is understanding what an action does and which ability it activates.

Read the cards. Understand the battle.
01

Three characters, one plan

The official system overview describes a team of three characters. Your choices shape the actions and abilities available in battle. Consider the team's overall contribution: direct pressure, recovery, buffs, and disruption can all change how you approach an encounter.

The roster's archetype and fighting-style labels help describe each kit. They are a way to compare behavior, not a substitute for reading an ability's condition. A useful combination depends on when the effects activate and which allies they affect.

02

Action Cards: read the action and its category

Official character introductions separate Arts 1, Arts 2, a Skill, and a Mortal Blow. Arts may also have an Arts Type and an Attack Category. Those fields describe different things, so a ranged animation alone does not tell you every property of the action.

Ichigo provides a clear example: his first Arts is a close sequence of attacks, while his second uses a Getsugatensho projectile. His innate ability specifically rewards Arts 1 hits. Reading that trigger tells you more about his play pattern than simply choosing the largest-looking attack.

TermWhat to look for
Arts 1 / Arts 2The attack behavior, category, and any linked ability trigger.
SkillIts buff, recovery, disruption, or other special effect and duration.
Mortal BlowThe signature attack and the conditions that support it.
Innate abilityThe event that activates the effect and whether it stacks.
ArchetypeThe character's broader combat behavior and related ability.
03

Triggers matter more than isolated numbers

An effect that activates on entry is different from one that requires consecutive hits. A temporary Attack increase also has a different role from recovery or a status effect. Read the trigger, duration, target, and stacking limit together.

The character pages summarize the official initial and final innate-ability descriptions. Those endpoints should not be mistaken for an upgrade plan or an estimate of the resources required. Use the live game for the current progression requirements and exact values.

04

Mortal Blows and Soul Drive

Mortal Blows are the characters' dramatic signature attacks. Soul Drive is the coordinated attack system highlighted in the official overview. Both are part of the game's battle presentation and team-based design.

Watch the official gameplay overview below for the rhythm of card selection and the visual language of these attacks. Use the in-game tutorial for the exact activation requirements shown in your current version; a promotional video is best used to understand the flow of play.

05

A simple practice routine

Start with a character whose trigger is easy to observe. Watch what happens after the relevant Arts lands, then compare the result when you use a different action. Add the second and third character once you can explain the first character's role.

When a team struggles, change one variable at a time. Check whether the issue is reaching an ability's trigger, keeping characters healthy, or choosing actions that suit the encounter. This is a more useful starting point than a ranking that ignores the fight in front of you.

  • Read the current in-game description before relying on an older guide.
  • Match the action to its trigger instead of judging only the animation.
  • Check which character receives a buff or recovery effect.
  • Use the roster to compare alternative kits with the same role.
